A pleasure to work with improvement

Hege Gjerde is relatively new as Quality Manager for NorSea Logistics, based in Kristiansund. “The best part of the job is visiting different locations and getting to know even more wonderful people working at NorSea.”

Hege began her NorSea career as an HSE Administrator in 2020.

“The industry still feels a bit new to me, and it’s exciting. Moreover, NorSea is involved in many new initiatives across the corporation, that include Logistics.”

Hege is a trained food technologist in Trondheim and previously worked with HSE and quality in the seaweed industry before changing her focus. “I have 30 years of experience in seaweed harvesting and serve on the board of Polar Algae, where NorSea is one of the owners.”

Hege applied for the position because she enjoys challenges. “Now, I get to work with all of Logistics, and I’m passionate about quality as a field. My main task is to further develop Kompasset, our new management system. It’s a joy to have the opportunity to facilitate and work on making things better for my colleagues! I’ve had the chance to travel to all our locations, and there’s a lot to gain from learning from each other. The point isn’t for everyone to do everything the same way, but to nurture the best from each base,” says Hege.

“At NorSea, there are excellent opportunities for learning. Openness is perhaps the most important of our values in that regard. We have a good working environment and favorable conditions. I think it’s great that NorSea recruits a lot internally and invests in its employees! There are opportunities across the board and at many locations.”

In her free time, Hege enjoys going to her cabin in Aure, by the coast. But she also loves hiking in the mountains with her husband and two adult children. “By the way, my husband works as a logistics coordinator at NorSea!”. She reveals that they met at work, but at a previous employer. “Kristiansund isn’t that big, after all.”
