Lene drives things forward
“NorSea is a solid company with great variety. You can start in one area and move on to work with something else,” says Lene Skotnes. “Much of it is up to you!” Lene is a senior project manager at NorSea Impact, the branch responsible for NorSea’s focus on green transition and new industries.
“NorSea offers many opportunities, with several bases and companies. We need people with various types of expertise. I really enjoy my job and find that people here are open and sociable!” Lene says. She is part of NorSea’s women’s network and values meeting colleagues from other locations and departments. “It gives you a fresh perspective!”
Lene thrives on driving things forward. She is currently working on developing a new model for project execution – complete with supporting tools. The goal is to create a unified framework for all projects within NorSea Impact. This work might eventually prove useful in other parts of the company. “We’ve started workshops where we test everything from collaboration methods to financial models. The colleagues involved show great enthusiasm, and according to the feedback, it’s clear this is needed,” she explains. At the same time, implementing change is always challenging. “Patience and understanding are essential. We have to take it step by step, testing and listening to feedback,” Lene says, admitting that she can sometimes get a bit eager.
She enjoys staying active in her free time too. Long before completing her master’s in International Business Management in Bournemouth, she took a ski and activity course that brought her to Hemsedal and Austria. She’s worked in a sports store and lived in the heart of Norway’s outdoor paradise Voss. “Now I mostly go mountain biking with my husband and kids, as well as some climbing, weight training, and running!”. Before finding her way to NorSea, Lene worked with logistics and project management at Halliburton and with projects and portfolio management at Lyse Altibox. “I like seeing results and knowing that I’m working on something that can make a difference.”
