A smarter workday with Celine
Celine came from from Denmark to Dusavik, with a fresh masters degree in product development and innovation in her moving boxes. At NorSea, she thrives in her role as a Business Application Developer.
Celine Kalsås Valen stood out in the stack of applications, according to Tyler Olderskog, Digital & Improvement Manager. “She has a broad education and brings fresh ideas on how we can advance digitally. The fact that she doesn’t have many years of industry experience is actually an advantage!”
Before obtaining her master’s degree from the University of Southern Denmark in Odense, Celine studied production engineering in her hometown of Bergen. “I enjoy working onproblem-solving, thinking both creatively and analytically. I’m anxious to learn and find it fascinating to be a part of the entire development process.”
In her free time, she is more analog than digital: she creates her own furniture, sews, knits, and paints.
Celine works with Flow – NorSea’s Terminal Management System, which was built by theemployees themselves. With this digital tool, NorSea keeps track of the flow of containers at the base and has loading and unloading under control. This provides better information and communication, which in turn reduces risks. There is hardly a better example of ‘Safer, Smarter, Greener!’ Celine tests and implements new features in Flow and challenges the wayNorSea operates today.
“For example, we’ve installed weight sensors on the forklifts, so data about the weight of thecargo can go directly into the system. It’s great to be a part of creating value! Everything I’minvolved in contributes to a safer and more efficient daily routine at the bases.”
Part of the job involves visiting the NorSea bases along the coast. “We’re going to implementFlow everywhere. All the bases are a bit different, and introducing something new can be a challenge, but I’ve been warmly welcomed by friendly people!”
“At NorSea, there is room to grow and develop,” says Celine.”
